With COVID-19 financially impacting many businesses, the federal, state, and local governments have been offering relief to help taxpayers and business owners. While many of the deadlines have been extended, we encourage that you file and pay on time if you have the ability to do so.
Here are the deadlines that have been extended thus far:
2019 Federal Taxes (IRS)
The deadline for filing and paying 2019 federal taxes for both individuals and businesses has been extended until July 15, 2020. This is an automatic extension and no action is required.
First and Second Quarter Estimated Tax Payments (IRS)
Both first and second quarter estimated tax payments have been extended until July 15, 2020. This is an automatic extension and no action is required.
Washington State DOR Taxes (DOR)
The DOR is offering extensions on a broad range of taxes including B&O, real estate excise tax assessments, leasehold excise tax, forest tax, and tax deferrals for biotechnology and medical device manufacturing.
Monthly filers: Request an extension prior to the due date
Quarterly filers: Q1 is due June 30, 2020 & Q2 is due July 31, 2020
Annual filers: 2019 is due June 15, 2020

Workers’ Compensation Premiums (L&I)
Labor and Industries is offering a 90-day grace period on workers’ comp premiums. Contact your L&I account manager by calling (360) 902-4817 to request relief.
Whatcom County Property Tax (Whatcom County)
The first half of property tax for individuals and commercial taxpayers has been extended to June 1, 2020. This is an automatic extension and no action is required.
City of Bellingham B&O Tax (COB)
Quarterly filers can defer first and second quarter B&O tax payments until October 31, 2020. This is an automatic extension and no action is required.
